Bath Rugby squad to face London Welsh

Bath Rugby have named a 33 man squad for their first pre-season friendly against London Welsh at the Recreation Ground tomorrow, kick-off 14.15.

It will be the first game for the boys under new Head Coach Gary Gold and his team of coaches, and everyone will be looking to impress.

Charlie Beech, Ross Batty and Anthony Perenise form the starting front-row, with new signing Dom Day and captain Stuart Hooper forming a new partnership in the second row. Academy youngster Joe Buckle comes onto the blindside flank, linking up with Guy Mercer and Ben Skirving to complete the pack.

Academy graduates Chris Cook and Tom Heathcote kick-off in the halfbacks, with Matt Banahan and Dan Hipkiss combining in the centres. Kyle Eastmond and JJ Kilmartin start out wide on the wings, with Jack Cuthbert named at fullback.

Players unavailable for selection include new signings Paul James and Rob Webber, back rows Francois Louw, Josh Ovens and Simon Taylor, and backs Stephen Donald, Richard Lane, Ben Williams, Olly Barkley and Sam Vesty.

Ahead of the game, Gold said: "The boys have worked consistently hard throughout pre-season and are now keen to get stuck in and get the season underway. This game is the first run-out for many and will give us a good indication of where we are.

"We have a few players unavailable due to knocks, niggles and sickness bugs, but on the whole they are pre-cautionary and we should see them back in action very soon."

Tickets are still available for the game against the Exiles, priced at just £5 for Juniors, £10 for Adults and £7 for Season Ticket Holders, so call the Bath Rugby Ticket Office now on 0844 448 1865 to join us for the first steps of our new beginning.
