Despite tries from Nick Scott and George Drury, and two conversions from Paul Roberts, Bath United were unable to overcome a strong Saracens Storm side last night at Old Albanians, as they were defeated 31-14.
Storm took an early lead with two penalties from Sam Stanley, however, United's first visit into the home team's half saw them coming away with a try. Fly-half Paul Roberts spotted a gap in the defence, and put in a deft chip, which winger Nick Scott sprinted onto, seeing him cross the whitewash. Roberts added the conversion.
The experience of the Storm side saw them quickly exert more pressure on the young United side, and after a series of penalties in the 22, Saracens hooker Jamie George crossed in the corner to regain the lead for the home side. 13-7
The experience of Storm continued to show in the second half, as two more tries came from Kameli Ratuvou and Jean-Baptiste Bruzulier, and Stanley keeping the scoreboard ticking over with the boot.
United battled hard though, and were rewarded with another try late in the game, for substitute George Drury. He pounced on a loose ball, hacked it through the gap and then showed a great turn of pace to touch the ball down over the line. Roberts was again on song adding the extras.
