Max On Tour: Postcard from The Great Wall

Now into the third week of his world tour, Junior Membership Club Leader Maximus, has been trekking along the Great Wall of China.

Commenting on his adventures this week, Max said, "It's been a really insightful week for me, the Great Wall is steeped in fascinating history. It's not often a lion is seen taking in these amazing scenes, so I kept being stopped for photos by all the tourists!"

Here are some of the things Maximus learnt from his time in China.

  • The summit of Mount Everest, the tallest mountain in the world, marks the border between China and Nepal.
  • The Great Wall of China, built to protect the Chinese Empire against invasions over 2,3000 years ago, is the longest man-made structure in history. It is around 1,3670 miles long.
  • China has the second richest economy in the world after the United States of America.
  • In China, each year is represented by an animal.  2014 is the Year of the Horse.

Another Maximus postcard will be arriving with us again next Monday, so be sure to check back on our website and social media channels for updates on his worldwide adventures. Who knows where he will end up next!
