Hatley needs your support to raise money for Help4Heroes this weekend!

Bath Rugby's Forwards Coach Neal Hatley, will soon be off to Canada to take on the gruelling 715km Yukon River Quest for Help for Heroes.

Joining forces with a team from Interserve, the international support services and construction group and IWS, they are hoping to raise a significant amount of money for the charity in the coming weeks.

After taking part in some initial warm up challenges , the team will be pushed to their limits as they start the Yukon River Quest. They will be joining athletes from all over the world who enter to test their endurance and will race day and night for four days along 715km/440 miles of rugged and treacherous waterways in the most spectacular paddling race in the world, also known as the "Race to the Midnight Sun".

With most of the team having never canoed before, serious preparation and training has been undertaken, particularly as they face a 27 hour straight paddle on their first day. They will compete in a six man voyageur war canoe, similar to that used by Canada's first nation.

Neal Hatley said: " To participate in this race last year was an amazing experience and there was no way I could pass up the opportunity to attempt it again particularly as the money we raise will be used to help support Help for Heroes. The challenge we face on the Yukon River pales into insignificance when you consider the challenges faced each day by injured servicemen and so if we can even help make a small difference then it will all be worth it. This is an opportunity to compete in an amazing endurance event for charity".

To launch Bath's support for the Yukon challenge there will be a 400 metre challenge being run on two rowers in a tent behind the Novia stand with prizes being awarded for winners in different age categories. We encourage everyone to come and have a go and to make a small donation to the Charity Help4Heroes.

If you can't make it down but would still like to donate then you can do so here.
