Bath Academy Raise over £6,700 for Prince's Trust

£6,750 has been raised by nine Bath Rugby Academy players, who have spent the past six months producing ‘Come Dine With Me’ dinners.  Not only have they been playing rugby, which is the ‘norm’, but also offering their culinary skills to potential sponsors to raise money for youth charity The Prince’s Trust, through their Million Maker’s Challenge.

The whole process began in April at the Celtic Manor when Bath Rugby and Welsh Water were introduced to the challenge.  There was a midway point in July to ensure they were all managing the task, and last week (17th October), they all met for the Final Celebration at St Pierre Golf Resort in Chepstow.  The two teams gave presentations of their work, talking about what they had done and what experience they had gained.

Recapping on the evening and discussing the Bath boys, Sally Mabbutt, Commercial Manager of the Prince’s Trust, said:  “Their presentation was very good.  The boys were very honest and had personally learnt a lot about working as a team – it was a learning curve for them all.”

Champagne and certificates were given to the winners, Wessex Water who had raised £10,300, and Bath’s Academy player Ed Hainsworth won the award for the ‘Most Enterprising Individual.’

Danny Grewcock, Bath Rugby’s Academy Director was pleased with them all:  “Not only have they raised funds for the Trust, they have also developed new skills such as compiling a business plan, pitching their business to potential sponsors, as well as managing finances.  It has been a huge challenge for them, and my hope is that it will motivate and inspire them to succeed as a team.”

Congratulations to all the Bath Rugby Boys who took part in the Prince’s Trust Million Maker’s Challenge:
