Dorothy House Hospice Care

The Hospice gives free care to around 700 families affected by cancer and other life threatening conditions. They are the major charity providing free specialist nursing care at home over a 700 square mile area including Bath, North East Somerset and parts of Wiltshire. Short-term care, out-patient and day patient services are provided at the hospice in Winsley near Bath. Dorothy House are fundraising to take a number of day patients, who have usually given up all hope of ever having a few days away from home, on holiday to Center Parcs, Longleat. Costs for the week total around £6,000 including nursing care, chalet hire and a meal out and patients are asked to contribute £40 towards the cost of their holiday. The benefits to the patients are enormous.
