Fundraising activities

The Bath Rugby Foundation collects at all home fixtures and money raised is placed into a central fund for distribution to our nominated charities and projects. This also applies to all funds raised from events such as Golf Days, the End of Season Dinner and matchday raffles.

Causes supported must be registered charities, must be local/regional or have a significant presence in Bath & Northeast Somerset or Mendip.

As well as our own projects, the Foundation is proud to support Dorothy House Hospice, the Royal United Hospital's Space for Cancer Care Campaign, Children's Hospice South West. The Bath Rugby Foundation also collects annually for the Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal.

Dorothy House Hospice Care

The Hospice gives free care to around 700 families affected by cancer and other life threatening conditions. They are the major charity providing free specialist nursing care at home over a 700 square mile area including Bath, North East Somerset and parts of Wiltshire. Short-term care, out-patient and day patient services are provided at the hospice in Winsley near Bath. Dorothy House are fundraising to take a number of day patients, who have usually given up all hope of ever having a few days away from home, on holiday to Center Parcs, Longleat. Costs for the week total around £6,000 including nursing care, chalet hire and a meal out and patients are asked to contribute £40 towards the cost of their holiday. The benefits to the patients are enormous.

Royal United Hospital's Space for Cancer Care Campaign

The RUH is running a two-phase fundraising campaign to improve cancer services at the RUH. Phase one will be a 12 month project to raise £650,000 to purchase the Gamma-CT Scanner; which combines a traditional Gamma camera and a CT scanner, followed by the larger phase two 3 year project which is to be launched to the public in early 2012. Cancer affects one in three people in the UK and the catchment area of the RUH is no exception. Early treatment is essential in combating the disease and a primary use of a Gamma camera is to diagnose the myriad types of cancer that can affect us. It can also be used in the detection of heart disease, bone pain and neurological disorders.

Children's Hospice South West

Children's Hospice South West provides the only residential hospice care in the region and supports children and their families with life-limiting conditions. Little Bridge House in North Devon and Charlton Farm care for around 600 families who can go for respite and relaxation, laughter, friendship, expert palliative and terminal care and support for the whole family through to bereavement. It costs £3 million every year to fund the service in just one of the hospices and sadly this support will need to be provided year on year.
