 Very Important Announcement
No we haven’t signed Dan Carter! But much more important than that for Bath Rugby is that I implore any of you that haven’t completed the Strategic Review Questionnaire to do so before the deadline which is on the 15th January. Apologies for posting this again after Ziderman's post but a new development is that the Strategic Consultant has stated that the response is very low at the moment.
Both Penny Brunton (Supporters Club) and Glen Leat (ERE) have compiled the following about the three options which have been put forward for our beloved Rec. This questionnaire is very important for the Consultant to make up his mind on how he will recommend to the Trustees and the Charity Commission on the way forward.
The three options and the supporters’ groups views are summarised by BRSC and ERE as follows:
Option 1 – clear the Rec of any buildings
Pros: “There will be a vast empty space in the middle of the City.”
Cons: “Why on earth would the City want to drive out a thriving, positive institution that has been on the Rec for over 100 years, that gives thousands of people a lot of pleasure, that is a major economic driver, and spreads the Bath brand worldwide?”
Option 2 – rebuild what is already there
Pros: “Practical, deliverable and acceptable to the majority of people. This is a modest intervention – what it does is significantly improve what is already there, and can be funded without Council cash.”
Cons: “Not radical enough. Requires a 5% extension to its current lease footprint.”
Option 3 – clear the existing buildings including the Sports Centre, and rebuild the lot
Pros: “Radical scheme, which envisages more green space in the centre, and a rebuilt Leisure Centre, Pavilion and stadium.”
Cons: “Dependent on millions of pounds of Council money which will not be forthcoming. Also, little evidence that all of the facilities will fit into the space that they have earmarked.”
The questionnaire can be completed on line, sent by email or posted and is available here http://www.recreationgroundtrust.org.uk ... nnaire.htm
It is time for all Bath Rugby fans to be heard and believe me this may be the last opportunity for us to raise our voices to ensure we stay at the Rec.

I agree, i fell in love with Bath when i went to uni there, and have gone ever since. The Rugby club is a vital cornerstone to Bath and to take it away will not only destroy years of tradition and a ruin a good solid Saturday traid for the bars, i might have to stay home and spend time with the wife, SAVE THE REC!!!!!!!

It seems amazing that only 200 have been returned. I completed mine on line some time agao and have badgered various family and friends into completing theirs too, all for option 2 of course. To repeat what others have said, if you haven't completed it yet DO IT NOW!!!!!!!!! please :)

I wonder if CoochieCoo is our old friend (and supporter of the Keep Rugby at The Rec Campaign) Gareth Chilcott??
Just a thought....

Conspiracy theories aside, I've been meaning to fill this out for some time, but wanted to put some serious thought into my answers, so have always put it off until a later date.
However, I couldn’t put it off any longer, so I’ve just filled mine in.
:D
Apologies for taking so long, but I got there in the end.
Like everyone else on this forum, I’m a firm believer that rugby must remain at the Rec, so would urge anyone who, like me, has been putting this off for a later date to fill in their questionnaire sooner rather than later.
As has been stated time and time again, this is very important. 200 returned questionnaires is simply not good enough.

I don't make any apologies for being biased especially as Option 1 and Option 3 will cost the B&NES tax payer alot of money and I have a vested interest in that a close relation living near the Rec does not want to pay for another Spa!
Further, Option 1 drives Bath Rugby off the Rec and possibly to J17 or Swindon and Option 3 is so full of legal obstacles such as the demolition of the Sports Centre and the Pavilion that it will not happen before 2010 and that will be too late.
As regards my identity if you were avid readers of http://www.bathrugbyere.co.uk you would know my identity. I don't think Gareth Chilcott was ever called CoochieCoo at least I never called him that!

JOB DONE and it was surprisingly easy. Very surprised that they had only 200 replies to date looks like Coochie's campaign was a timely one.
