Bath Rugby stars give Beechen rugby programme a flying start

Ryan Caldwell and Carl Fearns visited Beechen Cliff School to launch the schools 34 week rugby programme aimed at students in years 10, 11 and 6th form.  The appearance was kindly donated to the school by David Buxton of Willmotts DJB, (Shirt Sponsor of Ryan Caldwell) and organised by Bath Rugby and Kant Mann – Assistant Head of Beechen Cliff.

The two players coached the Beechen Cliff forwards on the technical aspects of their game.   The Beechen boys were put through their paces in learning to present clean, quick ball at the breakdown under the watchful eye of Caldwell and Fearns.   The boys were also coached to improve their lineout work with clean lifting and offloading in order to give the backs quick ball.

Alex Brewer of year 12 said "It was a fantastic experience to get first hand coaching from two fantastic players.  They really made us think about what we were doing in terms of quality and efficiency." Ben Staunton, rugby coach at the school added "It is always a privilege to welcome Bath rugby players and Ryan and Carl have certainly launched the rugby programme for us with great energy and enthusiasm."

The school expressed its thanks to the players, Bath Rugby and David Buxton for organising the event.
