HSBC Healthy Lifestyle Project

Healthy role model"HSBC in the Community is delighted to support the Bath Rugby Community Foundation healthy lifestyle programme across 15 primary schools in Bath. We have a strong focus on supporting community projects around the world, and providing access to education is the central aim of our education initiatives. We work on the basis that education is the key to prosperity. Our support aims to give young people hope, a positive attitude, opportunities for success, and, above all a better future. Acquiring knowledge, understanding and skills during the formative years helps young people to become confident, ambitious and responsible adults, and the benefits can be far-reaching. We concentrate our support on 5 main areas: nurturing talent, direct funding, involving our employees, positive attitudes and local solutions to local needs."

"Our partnership with the Bath Rugby Community Foundation will enhance the education of 450 children across Bath and provide a great opportunity for many HSBC staff to offer practical assistance."

HSBC is delighted to support this exciting project.

HSBC Healthy Lifestyle Programme

The HSBC Healthy Lifestyle Programme is in accordance with the national 'Every Child Matters' strategy, new in 2007/2008.

What is it?

The programme consists of a series of visits to the Playing for Success centre at the Recreation Ground which includes four classroom-based workshops plus a multi-skills coaching session.

Using the professional players as role models, the children investigate dietary and nutritional requirements as well as the right amount of exercise to maintain a healthy and balanced lifestyle.

A number of the schools involved are either working towards or have already obtained their 'Healthy Schools' accreditation.

The final visit of all the schools culminates in a presentation event where all the children involved receive certification and have the chance to meet a number of Bath rugby first team players.

Who does it involve?

Girls and boys in year 5 classes (ages 9-10) from local primary schools have been invited to participate. This project includes approximately 450 children in total, plus class teachers and assistants.

HSBC staff also have the opportunity to volunteer to help out with the project, and 'buddy up' with a school group so that they always work with the same group of children.
