Bath Rugby Scholarships 16 - 21 year olds

Scholarships to the Academy are offered for a period of one year although it is anticipated that athletes will remain in the Academy for at least 2 – 3years or until the age of 21 by which time they should have achieved professional status.   Talented players are identified through a variety of routes, club, school, university or County (CB) Schools of Rugby,  development and representative squads and current EPDG squad members. Selection is based on the potential for development of each chosen athlete and scholarships will be offered to outstanding players with the potential to represent both Bath and England.  

School / College Scholars 16 - 18 year olds

This group is made up of a small number of players who attend their chosen local school or college in the Bath Rugby designated region.  

University Scholars

This group is made up of a small number of players who attend the University of Bath.  

Scholarship Benefits

1 - Access to suitable training facilities provided by the Academy or through other approved agencies. 2 - High performance coaching under the direction of the Academy Manager, Academy Head Coach and Academy coaching staff. 3 – Strength and conditioning with evaluation and training programmes under the direction and supervision of qualified personnel. 4 - Sports Medicine and Sports Science services provided by the Academies practitioners or other approved agencies. 5 - Performance reporting and supervision 6 - A monthly allowance depending on individual circumstances 7 - Assistance with career and personal development, education and employment 8 - Medical treatment by the Academy’s practitioners.
