The first half, dominated by the home team, saw Supermarine first on the score sheet with a catch and drive from a lineout, which was followed by a similar score minutes later from a close range penalty move. Neither try was converted.

The second half continued in a similar fashion and again continual pressure from the home team’s forwards resulted in a third unconverted try.

A double sin-binning of Supermarine players in the second half spurred the away team on, and allowed them to exploit the space and create an overlap on the right wing with debutante Jo Kirk scoring in the corner. Sarah Holloway narrowly missed the conversion.

Next, after another midfield break, replacement winger Carol Cross broke free to score under the posts. The try was duly converted by Holloway.

With the Ladies now in full flow, Cross received her second scoring pass to break through the Supermarine defence and score. Holloway again converted.

Holloway was to finish the Bath scoring with a penalty kick just outside the opponents 22.

Bath Rugby Ladies Head Coach Jimmy Deane said: “The game was very frustrating from our point of view, generally we were very poor. At the same time full credit must go to a quality Supermarine team who took their chances well and put us under enormous pressure. The girls realise they were lucky to win and still have a huge amount of work to do to enable them to continue to develop as a team.”
