Barkley to start for the Saxons

Olly Barkley will join his Bath Rugby team-mate Nick Abendanon in the England Saxons team taking on Italy A tomorrow, Friday, at Exeter’s Sandy Park.
Barkley is promoted to the starting line-up following an injury in training to Mike Catt yesterday, and with London Wasps flanker Tom Rees and Gloucester full-back Olly Morgan receiving senior call-ups, the England Saxons coaches Jim Mallinder and Dorian West have made several other changes to the 22, which gives more good news for Bath Rugby fans.

The loss of Morgan means that NEC Harlequins full back Mike Brown is promoted to the starting line-up, with Bath Rugby’s Chev Walker called up to take his place on the bench.

The open-side flanker berth left vacant by Rees will be filled by James Scaysbrook. Barkley’s place on the bench is filled by Leicester winger Tom Varndell.

Although Ashton will not make a decision on Iain Balshaw's (Gloucester Rugby) groin injury before tomorrow, Mallinder and Ashton have decided that Olly Morgan (Gloucester Rugby) will remain with the senior squad.
