Match report by Simon Clark
In an evenly contested match, Bath United eventually ended up losing narrowly 22.-25 to Bristol United in a Guinness A league match at the Rec on Monday night.
Winger Rhys Crane gave Bath an early lead with a try in the first minute before Bristol responded with two penalties from fly-half Ed Barnes.

With sustained Bath pressure unable to yield a try, George Hughes tried his luck with a drop-goal attempt in the 25th minute. The successful kick put Bath back in the lead.

Luke Eves and Sam Cox both touched down for Bristol before half-time with Ed Barnes kicking one successful conversion. Bath went into the break 8-18 down.

Within minutes of the restart Ian Davey used his scintillating pace to claim two tries in the space of two minutes. For the first he broke off the side of a Bath maul to run forty meters to the line. The second try came from a kick and chase from the winger who rounded a Bristol defender before making his way to the try line. Luke Cozens hit both conversions.

With Bath in the ascendancy, the direction of the game turned for a final time when substitute Ryan Prosser scored as the Bristol pack forced their way over the Bath try line. Barnes hit the conversion to give Bristol victory.
