| James Scaysbrook played a full 60 minutes at openside flanker, whilst Ed Jackson made his first appearance since last March. Laurence Ovens, having played against Cardiff last Friday night, played at tight-head prop for 40 minutes.
Saracens two internationals, All Black Jack, having arrived last week and Springbok Russell, having his start to the season delayed after breaking a collarbone in pre-season training were both getting their first run outs the men in black.
Russell showed little signs of rustiness as he crossed the line for a try with just two minutes on the clock and set up another two scores to demonstrate his speed, while Jack looked impressive in the second row and also showed his deft handling and skills around the pitch.
Russell was on the end of a break by Andy Saull to score the first of the game and when Alex Goode added the conversion and two penalties, the Men In Black found themselves 13-0 ahead inside of 10 minutes.
Sakiusa Matadigo and Edd Thrower both then crossed the line before the try of the match. Fielding a long punt downfield, Russell ran from his own 22 through a crowded midfield before delivering a perfect pass to give Noah Cato the simple task of running in from five metres out.
With Goode adding the conversions for two of those scores, it made it 32-0 to the Men In Black at the interval.
Shortly after the break, Alan Dickens showed his speed off the mark to touch down and was no doubt assisted by his shiny new blue boots as he raced across the line.
Bath United had little answer to Saracens as Saull, Thrower, James Short and Tom Loizides regularly found gaps in midfield as the game wore on.
Guthrie Hall touched down at the base of a scrum on the hour mark and further tries from Thrower, Cato and Harry Owens – along with three conversions from Goode completed the rout.
Saracens scorers:
Tries: Cato (2), Thrower (2), Russell, Matadigo, Dickens, Hall, Owens.
Cons: Goode (6)
Pens: Goode (2)
