Assistant Coaches

Both Maz and Kate first got involved with rugby at the University of Bath in 1998 and 2000 respectively. They share a similar rugby philosophy, having a very competitive edge and believing that ‘you get out what you put in’. They both captained the University of Bath Ladies side in consecutive years, and remain involved while both working at the university. During their initial coaching partnership, they began to dream of combining the facilities at the Uni, and the love of rugby running through the veins of Bath, to create a set up for women as good as the men’s. Nevil Jeffery introduced them to Jimmy Deane and the rest is history! Having been involved in the world of ladies rugby for some years, they believe the support of Bath Rugby is already second to none.

A formidable coaching duo sometimes likened to a ‘bad cop good cop’ act, their innovative approaches and willingness to learn and try new techniques provide Jimmy with a useful coaching team and the squad with exciting training sessions. Both returned to playing last season providing useful direction on the pitch as well as off the pitch!

Kate Eddy

Kate has been involved in coaching the University Ladies side since 02/03. Her extensive knowledge of training techniques led the team to two consecutive promotions and now strong competition in the top half of the BUSA Premiership. Kate is the ‘TASS’ athlete Strength & Conditioning coach in the University’s STV and has also worked with the Bath Academy, work which has directly benefited the Ladies side. Kate is a Level 2 coach and is currently the University of Bath Ladies Head Coach as well as an assistant coach for Bath Rugby Ladies.

Marianne Ellis

Maz first coached during 00/01 when she captained the University side but was unable to play due to a severe ankle injury obtained during England trials. Three operations later and suffering residual injury complications meant a permanent position change from playing to coaching, joining Kate in the 03/04 season to help guide the Uni side to promotion. Maz is a Level 2 coach and is currently an assistant coach for the University side, focusing on back play, as well as an assistant coach for Bath Rugby Ladies.
