Got a favourite watering hole before a game? We thought that we would give you the chance to recommend places to eat, drink and be merry for both home and away games. Please e-mail mailto:hkate.oram@bathrugby.com for your recommendations and a brief explanation of your choice.
Bell Inn
Our first choice isn't that local but a half way house on the journey from Portsmouth in Hampshire to watch the game. The Bell Inn, Leigh-upon-Mendip is approx 25 mins away from the ground, but they have a Bath rugby corner in the pub and guarantee a warm welcome from wherever you are and no matter what shirt you wear! The pub offers a wide range of great value food as well as a fabulous atmosphere and an ideal opportunity for the children to run off a bit of energy too in their pub garden.
Lambrettas
The second pub is for after match fun. Lambrettas, 8-10, North Parade, Bath is only a few paces away from the ground and is guaranteed to raise the spirits no matter what the result!
Thanks to Vicky Wigmore from Portsmouth, Hampshire for the recommendations above.
Sam Weller’s, Upper Borough Walls
Located a 5-minute walk from the Rec (where isn’t?), Sam’s is a small establishment, where good, well kept beer is complemented by the excellent home-cooked food. The landlord and landlady (both Bath season ticket holders) are friendly and welcoming. The pub itself is steeped in history, so go and visit, whether on a match day or a weekday.
Thanks to Michael Senior for this recommendation.
