Bath fielded a number of reserves, but were still able to roam at will, in the general direction of the Exeter line.  Poor tackling led to a procession of 14 tries. Notably four each by wingers Trick and Trevaskis. Other tries by Halliday, Hill (2), Gaymond, Maslen and Egerton (on debut game). Watkins converted two, Palmer and Trick one.

Farewell game

12/11/1994 v Oxford University, Home. Won 33-26. Team:- Long (T), Iacono, Webber, Lewis, Lloyd, Butland (T, 3c, 3p & 1dg), Olsen, Crompton (T), Adams, Mallett, Haag, Redman, Pearce, Maslen, Egerton (Capt).
What a relief after nine league games to have a bit of fun! This was a good run out for what was really the United side and it gave the crowd the chance to see some of the youngsters. Butland and Pearce really impressed. This marked Egerton’s last appearance after ten year’s of service to the Club.
Ed Pearce had graduated from the just defunct Under–21 squad for an outstanding 1st XV debut at age 19. Bath’s forward momentum provided ample opportunities for an open game. Rich Butland (Bath University rugby scholarship) chalked up 23 points, with a personal bag of a try, 3 conversions, 3 penalties and a drop goal, in a fine overall debut performance in a thoroughly entertaining game.

One of Egerton’s happiest memories was beating Gloucester 48-6 in the Pilkington Cup Final.
His Bath playing record:- 163 games, 68 tries and 279 points.

A deep thinker on rugby matters and when warmed to his subject, could more than hold his own with associates – Simon Jones and David Trick.

Formerly an ergonomist with British Aerospace.
