What is it?

A comprehensive two year Community TAG Rugby Programme in the south west area delivering TAG Rugby into thirty local Primary Schools. The programme is aimed at key stage 2 children of both sexes aged 9 to 11 years of age. As an end result this programme will have given over 1000 children TAG Rugby experience.

How will it work?

• All schools involved will receive 1 hour of quality rugby coaching a week for 5 weeks delivered by a qualified Bath Rugby Community coach. The five weeks will culminate in a TAG Rugby Tournament staged at a local rugby club where the children get to put their new found TAG Rugby skills to the test against other schools involved in the programme.
• Coaching materials will be left ( free of charge!) at each school at the end of the five weeks of coaching to enable sustainability of TAG Rugby in the schools.
• The programme will work in clusters of six local schools. These six local schools will make up the tournament with the winning team progressing to play an exhibition match on the Recreation Ground during half-time of  a Guinness Premiership match. All of the children involved on the day will receive medals, a school photo and be involved in a celebratory lap of honour.

The Corsham RFC Cluster
The Avon RFC Cluster
The Chippenham RFC Cluster
The Devises RFC Cluster
The Malmsabury RFC Cluster

In addition to all of the above, Wincanton PLC will nominate up to 30 children from the families of their employees to take part in a fun “Rugby Skills Day” held at the Recreation Ground. The day will include coaching from Bath Rugby’s community team and Bath Rugby first team players culminating in a tour of the ground and an intermit Q and A session with some of the players, a perfect autograph opportunity for any rugby enthusiast!

• Media Coverage for Wincanton and all schools involved through local media and Bathrugby.com
• A Wincanton launch day with high profile Bath Rugby players
• The Wincanton Web page on Bath rugby.com and the Wincanton page in the Bath Rugby match day programme.
• The opportunity to have 30 children Participating in a “Rugby Skills Day” at the Recreation Ground.
• Branding on t-shirts worn by children receiving the coaching and the coaching staff delivering the programme.

And finally… What is Sportsmatch?

Sportsmatch is a government funded scheme set up to help fund grass roots and community sports in England. They are able to do this by matching new sponsorship money with their own Sportsmatch funding on a pound for pound basis.
